Development Manager - West Wiltshire - Circa 25K DOE
Duties*experience
To manage the product development process for a portfolio of accounts and products, with an emphasis on research and development of product concepts, kitchen testing and presentations, factory trials through to launch.
Principal Accountabilities:
Development of products for brand and own label for retail, food service and food chains sectors.
Manage development projects through concept through to launch, completing full reports for kitchen and factory trials, shelf life, cost evaluation, product assessment, nutritional data and customer presentations. Managing the transfer to Production and Technical at first production.
To manage the communication of the development project through each stage within the company.
To carry out initial ingredient*packaging sourcing with close liaison with the Purchasing Department.
To maintain development procedures and ensure they are adhered to.
To be aware of all developments and current trends in the market place and conduct regular benchmarking sessions and taste panels issuing detailed reports.
To provide support to other departments including product presentations, recipe ideas, sample requests and presentations.
To continuously evaluate current products and recommend action accordingly.
To prepare presentations for the board, customers, visitors and departmentally.
To allocate tasks and assist in prioritising workload for Development Technicians.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essentially a hands on manager who is a good communicator at all levels, he*she believes in team working.
Degree in Food Science*Technology or related subject.
Minimum of 5 years food development experience
Fluent IT skills- word, excel, email
Driving licence
